The Great Debate - Crickets Best XI

Now I have the choice between Keith Miller and Imran Khan. I want at least one of them in the team because they were such good batters and I may need an insurance policy at number 7 if the top order (somehow) fails. The other one that is not selected may still definitely be in one of the remaining positions but I would like to have at least one really good bowling all rounder.

Keith Miller 2958 runs at 36.97 Refined: 2862 runs at 35.78 170 wkts at 22.97
Imran Khan 3807 runs at 37.69 Refined: 3580 runs at 35.44 362 wkts at 22.81

Keith Miller is undoubtedly one of cricket’s greatest talents. He is a dashing batsmen and an extremely quick opening bowler. Miller is exceptional all around the world not averaging above 30 with the ball in any country and only averaging below 30 in Pakistan where he played just the 1 test. Miller is also pretty sound without the new ball, taking 38 wickets at 20.34 in innings where didn't open the bowling, which, given the strength of this time, he may not be opening the bowling. Miller was also very good at any time during the match, with his averages hardly changing from each innings of the match.

Imran Khan's favourite batting position is number 7, whereas Miller's is 5, so Khan would have the advantage that he is batting in familiar territory. Imran is like Miller an aggressive batsmen and a lightning quick opening bowler, however the problem with Imran is that his record fluctuates from situation to situation, for instance he is great taking the new ball, but if he isn't opening the bowling, he tends to struggle taking 11 wkts at over 55 in innings where he didn't open, and in this attack he is probably not going to open the bowling (although that’s not to say that he won't). He also doesn't have as impressive as record as Miller when his team is getting beaten.

For those reasons, Miller will take this particular spot in the team, however Imran Khan can still easily be named in one of the final 3 bowling spots if I believe he is good enough.
